The trip to Fougerolles in the Haute Saône

 

The « twinning committee » (A.J.E.I.F.) is proposing a weekend in the Vosges on the 19th and 20th September 2015. The commune of Fougerolles in the Haute-Saône is famous for its production of cherries and the liqueur Kirsch. We are invited to their annual « Cherry Fritter Fair ».

Situated on the western edge of the Vosges national park, the commune of Fougerolles in the Haute-Saône invites you to their « Cherry Fritter Fair », an agricultural and artisanal fair which takes place every year on the third weekend in September.

The town is famous for its production of cherries and the liqueur Kirsch. The visit will be hosted by their Association « Fougerolles - Terroir et Traditions ».

Today 35,000 cherry trees are currently flowery.

The programme will include events which are part of the Fair, plus visits to the local « Eco museum » and to the thermal spa at nearby Luxueil. We are offered dinner on the Saturday evening and hostel-style accommodation for the night. There will be more events on the Sunday morning and some free time after lunch before departing at about 17.00, to arrive back in the early hours of Monday 21st.

Friday 18th September

Transport will be by coach, equipped with reclining seats and toilet facilities and departing Fougerolles-du-Plessis at 23.00 on Friday 18th September, to arrive in the Haute-Saône at about 09.00 on Saturday the 19th.

 

Saturday 19th September

The visit will be hosted by their Association « Fougerolles - Terroir et Traditions ».

The program will include those events taking place as part of the Fair, a guided visit to the local « Eco museum », and a visit to the thermal spa at nearby Luxueil.

We are offered dinner on the Saturday evening, along with hostel-style accommodation for the night at the town’s « Maison Familiale Rurale ».

 

Sunday 20th September

There will be more events on the Sunday morning and some free time after lunch before departing at about 17.00, to arrive back in the early hours of Monday 21st.

 

Information

The A.J.E.I.F will meet half the cost of transport by coach, equipped with reclining seats and toilet facilities and departing Fougerolles-du-Plessis at 23.00 on Friday 18th September, to arrive in the Haute-Saône at about 09.00 on Saturday the 19th.

The cost of accommodation and the group dinner will be met by our hosts. Other meals etc are at the expense of the individual, while travel costs are estimated at €30 to €40 per person.

Residents of Fougerolles-du-Plessis and its surrounding communes are welcome to join the trip, which is limited to 53 places.

  • Arrival in the Haute-Saône at about 09.00 PM on Saturday the 19th.

  • Sunday 20th September after noon, free activity.
  • Departing at about 5.00 PM on Sunday 20th September.
  • Arrival back in the early hours of Monday 21st.
